The Graduate School and the Honors Society have joined forces again to celebrate the excellence of scholarship and creativity at the James Madison University Scholarship EXPO, April 20-21, 2017.
The Graduate Showcase of Scholarship & Creative Activities, Thursday, April 20, is an opportunity for graduate students from more than 60 degree programs at JMU to share their work with peers and professors in a professional conference setting. The Graduate Showcase will highlight research and creative projects through panel presentations and poster presentations. Judges will nominate one panel presentation and three poster presentations to receive top presentation awards with monetary prizes for the winners. At the Awards Reception following the presentation sessions, The Graduate School will honor Showcase participants and announce the top presentation winners.Graduate students are invited to submit proposals for a panel or poster presentation at the annual Graduate Showcase of Scholarship & Creative Activities, April 20, 2017. Proposals, due March 2, may include graduate student research or creative projects highlighting the many ways JMU graduate students are contributing to their disciplines. Proposed presentations may take many forms including the use of narrative, performance, visual aids, multi-media, audio, and other elements appropriate to the project topic and discipline. Projects that have been previously presented at professional conferences are welcome.
Proposals should include the following information:
• 400-500 word abstract or description of the project
• Brief statement of the project’s contribution or relevance to its discipline
• Preferred presentation format (i.e., poster, panel, exhibit)
• Faculty Advisor Information (please inform your advisor of your proposal submission)
• Permission to present from all project authors and co-authors
