Description

We are excited to be participating in the First Scholars program of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. This initiative, focused on first-generation students, will assist us with identifying our strengths and potential for supporting these students and enhancing our inclusivity.

One initiative is a reception for our first-generation students to introduce them to faculty and staff who were also first-generation students. This will not involve a specific role or responsibility. Rather, it can help first-generation students realize there are first-generation individuals working at the institution who might understand a particular issue or struggle they are facing as a student. Hopefully, that student would reach out to that faculty member in their major or that staff member whom they see on campus.
