First Cohort of Valley Scholars Graduate Program
Description
- On May 15, 2019, the Valley Scholars Class of 2019 was recognized by James Madison University for successfully completing the five-year program. 32 students participated in the recognition ceremony. Family members, university faculty and staff, public school employees, and other community leaders joined the students for a reception and ceremony honoring their achievements.
- As of June 26, 2019, 26 students plan to attend James Madison University. Five students plan to attend other intuitions including the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Old Dominion University, Blue Ridge Community College and Lord Fairfax Community College.
- All 32 students plan to pursue a post-secondary education pathway. University staff continue to provide support for financial aid and orientation transition for all students as needed. Academic performance resulted in some students receiving substantial financial aid and scholarship awards from other institutions.
