Description

In January, Dr. Tom Moran returned to JMU following an 18-month service appointment at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Community Living (ACL). Through this work, Moran served the entire country, leading a team of regional administrators who supported each state, territory, and tribal community across the nation. ACL's efforts, along with over 20,000 agencies, support the aging and disability networks who promote independent living, at home in the community of their choice for children and adults with disabilities, older adults, indigenous/native tribal members, veterans, and their families. In the role, Dr. Moran worked to draw attention to topics like Rural Health, Social Determinants of Health, Suicide Prevention, Aging with a Disability, and Vaccine Promotion and Access.
