Description
This free one-day event is designed to help high school juniors (sophomores are also welcome) to gain knowledge about what it's like to audition for a university music department in a friendly and non-threatening environment. Students will have the opportunity to perform a short practice audition in front of university music professors. After each individual audition, faculty will discuss the student's strengths, areas needing improvement and strategies to prepare for an audition when entering college in the coming years. No matter where or when a student will audition in the future, this clinic will provide information and preparation. Additionally, sessions will be available on a number of topics related to being a music major at any university (e.g. a typical day/week/year, what to expect in terms of workload, careers that graduates typically pursue, types of classes, practice strategies, etc.).
