The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP)
Description
For over 50 years, researchers have explored the deep oceans in search of the Earth’s secrets. The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) is dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of the Earth through drilling, coring, and monitoring the sub-seafloor. Over the years, IODP has generated key evidence for major scientific theories such as plate tectonics, extinction of the dinosaurs, and existence of life below the seafloor. This interactive exhibit is designed to share the scientific discoveries with students of all backgrounds. Please join us for a special JMU faculty and staff event on Friday Sept 27 from 5-7:00 pm in Memorial Hall. This is a free, family-friendly, self-paced event.
