We are thrilled to announce the first ever UPCEA joint regional conference! SUPER 2018: Mid-Atlantic & South Regional Conference will be held October 1-3, 2018, at the Bethesda North Marriott in greater Washington, DC.
The unofficial theme of this year’s joint conference is—ta da! Education Superheroes! These days, superheroes are all the rage at the box office and everywhere else you look. We want to focus on the unsung heroes right in our midst. It’s us! Those of us in professional, continuing, and online education are the superheroes of higher education. In our pursuit to serve the non-traditional student, we wage war against the villains of the day: lack of resources, shortage of time, famine of ideas, and analysis paralysis – that evil fiend of too much overwhelming data and enemy of productivity.
By attending this year’s conference, you can look forward to the same great things you have come to expect from your respective regional conference, but because this is a joint conference, you can expect even more. You get to experience it all with a band of superheroes doing heroic deeds, just like you. Here is what you can expect:
- Learn more. No matter your level of expertise, everyone can benefit from continuing education.
- Network with peers from another region.
- Expand your geographic reach.
- Share stories and experiences across regions.
- Encounter new vendors and suppliers that can take you from great to SUPER.

As always, we like to acknowledge one another’s accomplishments at the conferences with regional awards and by recognizing leaders in the field.
The conference hotel, the Bethesda North Marriott, is close to the Pike & Rose mall, which offers varied restaurants as well as a movie theater. The hotel is also steps away from a Metro station, offering easy access to exploring all that the greater DC area has to offer.
