Detail

VA Engage Journal Submissions Due - Friday, May 15, 2020 The deadline for submissions to Volume 9 of the VA Engage Journal of student scholarship is this Friday, May 15, 2020. Please share this opportunity far and wide on your campuses. Now is the perfect time to encourage your faculty and students capture those end of the year reflection assignments. The Journal is a channel through which Virginia students share and reflect critically on their own community/civic engagement experiences and disseminate the knowledge emerging from their practice and research. This year we are also requesting manuscript submissions in a special theme category: Virginia 1619-2019: Democracy, resistance, and resilience (learn more in the call for papers). Submissions range from a well-received class project that’s been revised to fit the guidelines of the journal to emerging papers grappling with the “What? So what? Now what?” questions regarding an engagement experience or practice. After submissions are reviewed by engagement scholars and practitioners throughout the Commonwealth, we work with authors to revise their work for publication. There’s more information on the VA Engage Journal website (https://commons.lib.jmu.edu/vaej/). Thank you for helping us to spread the work about the Virginia Engage Journal! Please contact Dr. Steve Grande (grandese@jmu.edu) or Emily Kohl (kohle@wlu.edu), co-editors of the Journal, or any member of the editorial board, with questions about submissions.
