Detail

July 21, 2020 to July 24, 2020 Virtual Learning Experience

Based on public health projections and the prevailing travel restrictions for higher education institutions, we have decided to conduct the ILSW Institute virtually. The Institute fee has been reduced. The member institution fee for a team of five equals $3500, and the non-member institution fee for a team of five equals $4200. AAC&U staff and the faculty of the Institute are currently transitioning the curriculum and program of events and will share information with participants in the coming weeks.

The 2020 Institute on Integrative Learning and Signature Work is intended for college and university teams interested in advancing programs and curricula aimed at building students’ capacity to integrate their learning across the curriculum and cocurriculum, foster global learning through community engagement, and capture students’ development through signature work. Institute sessions led by national experts will emphasize the value of leveraging general education, interdisciplinary approaches, and cocurricular experiences to achieve campus goals to expand integrative learning and community engagement. The Institute recognizes that today’s college graduates must be able to integrate knowledge and skills, as well as apply them within in real-world, global contexts. In doing so, campuses have the opportunity to reexamine and refresh their civic missions to support equity, student learning, and preparation for full civic lives and careers. The Institute also supports campuses to embed signature work in reform efforts as a way to promote equity, authentic assessment, and student inquiry.

The 2020 Institute on Integrative Learning and Signature Work is also held in collaboration with the Institute on Teaching and Learning for Campus-wide Interfaith Excellence, led by Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC). Teams accepted to the Institute on Integrative Learning and Signature Work or the Institute on Teaching and Learning for Campus-Wide Interfaith Excellence have access to sessions and expert faculty from both Institutes. Information on how to apply for the Institute on Teaching and Learning for Campus-wide Interfaith Excellence can be found here.
