Application deadline: Monday, June 15 at 4 PM.

Join an online community of colleagues to create or revise a career portfolio. The portfolio is a selective and evidence-based narrative of your career achievements. By creating or updating your portfolio, you will create a document that showcases your achievements, but you will also engage in reflection and conversation with colleagues about your career values, goals, and future objectives. Give and receive feedback on draft portfolios and learn your colleagues as you craft portfolio narratives! Particular emphasis will be placed on how to move portfolios online, to integrate them into a personal website. Past participants of the Academic Portfolio Institute or the Review and Renew Your Career Institute are invited to participate and update their portfolios.

The career portfolios created in this institute are not suitable for tenure or promotion processes. If you have further questions, please consult with your Academic Unit Head (department chair), PAC chair, or the institute facilitator, Andreas Broscheid (broschax@jmu.edu).

Facilitated by: Andreas Broscheid, Ph.D., CFI and Political Science

Faculty participants will make progress toward:

  • Identifying and implementing effective strategies for career advancement
  • Creating a partial promotion dossier for mid-tenure review or career progress planning; and
  • Creating or updating their career portfolios.
