Climate Change in Afghanistan

Description

Friday, November 15, 1-2pm in Carrier Library room 301 (and simulcast in Rose Library room 5211). A talk by JMU History Professor Shah Mahmoud Hanifi, whose research, writing, and teaching have turned toward environmental history over the last decade. Dr. Hanifi will address climate change in Afghanistan through forests and rivers. Using Afghanistan as a case study, Dr. Hanifi will consider the "slow violence" of climate change in the Global South with a particular emphasis on the environmental impacts of capitalism and war.
