Abstract
After designing and facilitating a faculty fellowship on open pedagogy, the interdisciplinary team of authors (two instructional designers and a liaison librarian) share the assessment results from faculty reflections. In this article, the authors provide context about the pilot program and the values-based framework that incorporates open pedagogy, critical digital pedagogy, and critical information literacy used to make design decisions which operationalize care. The analysis of faculty reflections provides clarity for how academic libraries might shape faculty development opportunities to create transformational experiences that deepen faculty’s understanding of and sense of belonging to the open community. Exploring faculty responses, and the discussion from the authors, can inform practitioners’ work in the open movement – particularly in a time when engaging in small acts of hope and building community is more essential than ever.
