JMU College of Science and Mathematics

The College of Science and Mathematics is dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education and research. Our outstanding programs are student-centered and designed to prepare students for responsible positions at all levels in research, industry, education, medicine and government. We emphasize learning by doing science and provide active learning experiences in a range of settings. We also encourage collaborative research with faculty, internships and other experiences that facilitate transitions to work or graduate/professional education.

    • JMU Office of Research and Public Service

    The Office of Research and Public Service supports an innovation ecosystem at James Madison University through our mission to develop and advance academic and scholarly endeavors by leveraging resources through instruction, research, public service and engagement to foster student learning, innovative discovery and advancement for the university, local, regional, state, national and global communities. To achieve this mission, we have strategically organized a diverse array of programs into four sectors: Economic Development, Strategic Alliances, Research and Innovation, and Centers and Institutes. These four sectors provide the knowledge and expertise to enhance the focus areas of the JMU Research Agenda: Health and Life Sciences – Biotechnology; Homeland Security – Critical Infrastructure Protection; Emerging Areas; Education Reform in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; Accountability and Outcomes Assessment; Alternative Energy – Environmental Science; Nanotechnology – Materials Science.
