RhetTech
WRTC Students-Apply for the Editorial Board for F26!
The RhetTech Editors section of WRTC 328 offers the opportunity to serve on the Editorial Board of RhetTech, an undergraduate rhetoric and technical communication journal housed in WRTC. We welcome WRTC majors and minors who want to apply their disciplinary knowledge and their editing, design, and/or outreach skills. RhetTech is the perfect place to put into practice things learned in WRTC classes like editing, advanced editing, document design, content strategy, and/or publication management.
This course is available for 1-3 credits and can be used to satisfy WRTC major and minor requirements, as well as practicum and general elective credit requirements. Editorial Board members work on one of three teams: Editorial, Design, or Outreach. Registration for 2-3 credits typically means taking on a leadership role (Managing Co-editor or a team Lead) and dedicating more time to the journal, with returning students who wish to continue or expand their leadership experience preferred. Registration for 1 credit is ideal for newer editors or those with more limited time available. Editors can expect to collaboratively review submissions, correspond with authors and expert reviewers, edit texts, design, layout, and market the issue.
Enrollment in WRTC 328 RhetTech requires instructor permission. Our goal is to build an inclusive, fun space where we can flex our editorial, design, and outreach skills while growing one of the only (and best!) undergraduate journals in rhetoric and technical communication in the country. To learn more about RhetTech and/or to apply for permission, contact Dr. Mollie Stambler (stambldm@jmu.edu). The application only requires a brief statement about why you would like to work with RhetTech, what skills you bring that you would like to practice during the semester, and what you hope to get out of the class. This class will meet face to face on Monday and Wednesday and Online on Friday at the time listed in MyMadison.
