Submission Guidelines
Overview
We accept original work in the field of writing, rhetoric, and technical communication from undergraduate scholars everywhere.
Why Submit?
- Publication in a peer-reviewed journal
- Exposure to a national audience
- Feedback from a dedicated team of editors
- Experience writing for a professional peer-reviewed journal
- Opportunity to start a dialogue with other undergraduate students
Submission Types
Original research article; rhetorical analysis; argument and opinion essay; and multimodal pieces.
Submissions must not have been previously published and should not be under consideration or under review at another journal.
Who Can Submit?
Any undergraduate student.
Do we accept multiple submissions?
Multiple submissions are welcome, but only one submission per author will be published each semester.
General Guidelines
- Well-researched arguments supported by multiple quality sources.
- Grammatically proficient.
- Fit with the theme or Call for Papers.
- For projects involving human subjects research, authors should report IRB approval status, project number, and the approving institution's name.
- Submission must be complete – incomplete pieces will not be accepted.
Citation Style
Please use APA citation style. Include a "References" or "Works Cited" page with all submissions.
Minimum Length
1,000 words
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy
Using AI tools for content generation in submissions to RhetTech is not acceptable. When submitting work, it should be your own original work and all authors should be acknowledged in the submission.
The use of AI systems for editing and grammar enhancement is common practice and, therefore, is generally outside the intent of the above policy.
Copyright
RhetTech issues are published free and open access. Copyright for the works contained within are vested in each individual author and is not retained by RhetTech.
Typical timeline
Submissions are accepted during the fall semester of each academic year, and each new issue is published near the end of the spring semester.
